The Music Dept. in SHS was celebrating this week after a number of students were successful in their applications to join the Ulster Youth Choirs

  • 6 students were accepted into the Ulster Youth Junior Choir
  • 17 students were accepted into the Ulster Youth Training Choir
  • 4 were students accepted into the Ulster Youth Choir

This is a great honour for the girls and Mrs Turley was delighted and proud to present them with a certificate of achievement this week at assembly.

Also the History, Irish, ICT and Spanish depts. were celebrating after hearing the news that some of their students were recognised as Top Candidates by CCEA in the Summer Examinations 2017:

Niamh Trainor (13A) was placed joint 2nd in GCSE Irish;

Tara Breen (13B) placed Joint 1st in GCSE ICT;

Niamh Kitson placed Joint 3rd in A-level History;

Lauren McShane placed Joint 1st in A-level Spanish.

This is indeed a remarkable achievement for those students and one which will no doubt bring great delight to the students and their families. Congratulations must also go to their subject teachers who have provided the encouragement and support to enable these students to achieve such success.

Well done to all involved!
