GCSE Business & Economics Trip

Recently a number of GCSE Business & Economics  students visited Queens University for an ‘Economics and Business Insight Day’. The aim of the day was to give students a flavour of studying degrees such as Economics, Business, Finance or Management at the prestigious Russell Group University.

To start the morning there was an intriguing lecture from Queen’s Management School which focused on their role, career opportunities and also the importance of interview techniques, commercial awareness, presentation skills and peer learning.

In the afternoon students then had the opportunity to visit the ‘Trading Room’ at Riddel Hall. For those who hope to become the next Wolf of Wall Street, they got a chance to use the Trading Room (complete with Bloomberg terminals) to investigate the stock and bond markets and analyse major companies.

Mr McComb, Teacher of Economics at Sacred Heart stated:

“The ‘Insight Day’ was enjoyable and informative so an immense thank-you goes to Professor Donal McKillop from Queen’s Management School, for organising the educational sessions in the morning and afternoon. Also, all of our students from Sacred Heart must be commended for their enthusiasm and eagerness which ensured the day was a fantastic success.”
